I was just reading that 2.1 million new PlayStation 2's were still sold worldwide last year (bringing the grand total to 138 million). That's a fairly incredible total given that the console has been around for 10+ years now.
Over a thousand games were released for the PS2. But I think my favorite was Shadow of the Colossus. There really hadn't been a game like it before. Almost the entire gameplay was to climb onto and kill giant animated stone creatures with your sword. No easy task as the create tried to shake or swat you off. There was a bit of a puzzle element in finding the right technique of getting to vulnerable spot on each colossus. And each colossus you faced was different. There was a real rush in holding on for dear life as you inched, ran and jumped on the feat, legs, wings, back and head of each stone monster.
