In an attempt to thwart pirated copies of
Assassin's Creed 2, Ubisoft employed
DRM scheme that required any PC copy to access their Ubisoft server to check to see if it was a valid copy. Even if the game is played as a single player game. Well this made their DRM servers a target for a
DDoS attack yesterday. Essentially shutting down all access to the PC versions of Assassin's Creed 2, including legitimate copies. D'oh.
